Reindeer stew over open fire
The taste of game is perhaps best out there on the mountain on an August evening in the company of loved ones and without the company of mosquitoes.
You can easily throw together a good meal on the grill and it's probably that simple that food tastes best outside, regardless of whether you're in the park near home or like here on a mountain plateau in Jämtland.
One tip is to cook a pan with reindeer shavings - magically delicious!
Recipe: 4 people
Ingredients:
400 grams of reindeer shavings
1 yellow onion
1 head of parsnip
2 carrots
6 potatoes
3 dl cream
Salt and pepper
Fresh parsley
A handful of whole lingonberries
Do this:
Chop carrots, onions, parsnips and potatoes. Fry on medium heat and after a while scrape everything up against the edge of the frying pan. Fry the reindeer, pour over a little cream and stir everything together in the pan and season with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley and whole lingonberries.
